Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – In August we had very good “farewells” to the ministries, disciples and friends we were involved with during our 17 years in San Juan del Rio.

** Praise the Lord with us! - Our move to Canton, TX for a one year home assignment went well, with only minor problems on the road and no problems at the border. We are now settled here and have started homeschool.

** Praise the Lord with us!- for good medical help– in the middle of our packing, Scott got kidney stones for the first time in his life. He had surgery (also a first for him) to remove 3 stones in Mexico and passed another 8 stones… all in one month.

** Praise the Lord with us!- Francisco, Scott’s disciple in San Juan, has made some good decisions in the past month and is maturing in his relationship with Christ.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for September 2010

1. Pray for wisdom for Scott as he works with the ObreroFiel leadership team at our mission headquarters. He goes to Dallas (about 50 minutes from Canton) regularly for meetings.

2. Pray for provision of additional financial and human resources urgently needed to keep up with the growth of ObreroFiel.

3. Pray for Josiah as he explores college and work options. He also plans to get this driver’s license soon.

4. Pray that the ministries (church plant, second new group, Community Outreach Center, and 10 bookstores) & disciples left in San Juan del Rio would fulfill their specific purposes & glorify God.

5. Pray for the family as we have never spent more than a couple of months in the States. This home assignment year will be a huge cultural adjustment after 18 years in Mexico.

Thanking God for your partnership in the ministry, Scott & Ruth

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – we have recently had a lot of special visits with people we have ministered to over the years here in San Juan del Río.

** Praise the Lord with us! - ObreroFiel’s first online discipleship course is formatted and ready to use.

** Praise the Lord with us!- the teams that have come to San Juan have had a great time and been a help. Three teams down, three to go!

** Praise the Lord with us!- ObreroFiel is now sending out over 200,000 emails per month to 7,000 users around the world that ask for regular encouragement and help in their ministry.

Do you think traffic is bad where you live? IBM says that traffic in other cities of the world is much worse. The technology titans have compiled a “Commuter Pain” in the U.S. for two years, but this year decided to go global, as the company positions itself as a leader in anti-congestion technology.

The first international traffic study shows that more than 8,000 drivers in 20 countries on each of the inhabited continents, think that traffic is getting to be more of a problem. To arrive at these conclusions, IBM looked at 10 factors, including commute times, driving stress, and even trips canceled due to traffic.

And the winning city for the world’s worst traffic?… it was a tie… Mexico City and Beijing.

The traffic in Mexico City

These two cities topped the scale at 99 points out of 100, followed by other burgeoning mega-cities like Johannesburg, Moscow, New Delhi, and Sao Paolo.

The only American cities to crack the top 20 were Los Angeles, at a commuter pain index of 25; New York, at 23; and Houston, at 19.

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – We have found a house in Wills Point, TX (about 50 min. east of Dallas) which will be our home beginning in mid-August. We will take a one year “home assignment” which will allow us to help Josiah and Brianna get oriented to the U.S. and college. Starting in Jan. 2011 we look forward to visiting with many of you as we travel to visit supporters and prayer partners in various parts of the U.S. Scott will continue work full time with the ObreroFiel internet ministry team and not have to take those long trips from Mexico to Dallas for meetings.

** Praise the Lord with us! - The ObreroFiel internet ministry continues to grow. We have added paid staff this year to help with various new ministry opportunities. We are also recruiting 500 volunteers to email thousands of new contacts around the world who are asking for spiritual help and guidance.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for June 2010

1. Pray for results from thousands of World Cup soccer tracts that have been distributed in different cities in Mexico.. Pray that God would use these popular tracts to draw people to Himself. The world cup in South Africa runs from June 11 to July 11.

2. Pray for our team in San Juan as we host 6 short term missions teams from the U.S. and 2 interns this summer. The first team arrives Sat., June 12 and the interns arrive the following Sat,, June 19. We basically have one team after another until Aug. 7 and then hope to leave for the U.S. around Aug. 9th. The focus will be continued construction of the community outreach center and different types of outreach activities.

3. Pray for a good finish to our home school year this month amidst a lot of special events and activities.. Josiah is graduating from high school! Pray that God would guide his future steps as he continues to wait on Him for direction.

Thanking God for your partnership in the ministry,

Scott & Ruth

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – Scott had a productive trip to Guatemala to promote ObreroFiel and the “online missionary program”.

** Praise the Lord with us! - Harley is a young man who trusted in the Lord last year. He has been praying for his family’s salvation. His parents came to our house church for the first time last Sunday.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for May 2010

1. Pray for God’s continued work in our lives– we want to be better disciples of Christ so that we can make more disciples.

2. Pray for ObreroFiel as we open up our first online class to new students this month. This first course is a basic discipleship course we are offering to people who have made a decision for Christ while visiting evangelistic web pages and have asked for follow-up online.

3. Pray for the building permit for the construction at the San Juan community outreach center to come through for this year. We have a number of groups coming this summer which plan on doing parts of the construction.

4. Pray for the family as we work hard to finish up another home school year. Josiah will be gradating this year. Pray for his decisions regarding future education. He is not sure what he wants to pursue at this point.

Trusting in God, the Lord of the harvest,

Scott & Ruth

It was very encouraging see the passion for the world and hear the excellent challenges. Pray that God will continue to lead the evangelical church in Latin America to take it’s part in the Great Commission.

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – We have finished our first online course– a basic discipleship course for new believers. It will be offered starting this month to thousands of Spanish speakers who have asked for spiritual help and follow-up.

** Praise the Lord with us! – We had a wonderful combined Easter celebration with other churches in the region at the Koinonia camp. The special service was followed by a big picnic and fellowship time.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for April 2010

1. Pray for wisdom in planning, as we prepare to take a one year home assignment. We have taken short trips to visit churches and partners over the years, but have never taken a full home assignment. In addition to visiting with you, we hope to help Josiah and Brianna get drivers licenses, jobs, and get ready for college in the U.S.

2. Pray for Scott’s work this month to enhance our email subscription service for Spanish-speaking leaders. We currently send out 100,000 emails a month. With the launch of the new enhanced services on May 1 we hope to double our subscriptions.

3. Pray for Scott’s trip to Guatemala to promote our “online missionary program” at a large missions conference from April 25 to May 1. Pray that we can recruit and train 500 volunteers to work part time as online missionaries.

4. Pray for Francisco, a new believer that Scott is discipling and for another man Scott met on the street who wants to read English books. Scott gave him a copy of Purpose Driven Life and hopes to discuss that with him in the near future.

We thank God for wonderful ministry partners like YOU! Scott & Ruth

• Dear brother Scott,
By way of this note I wish to express my deepest gratitude for the messages that you send me via email. Living among greedy wolves that have negative and unhealthy messages, it is always helpful and comforting to read each good word that you give. Each devotional is an oasis in the desert for me. Paola Bäuerle C. (from Chile)

•My dear Director Scott: The message of Biblical leadership greatly impacted me. Thank you for shedding light on this interesting theme. Luís Flores (from Guatemala)

•Thank you for each and every email that you send me. They have been a huge blessing to me. Because of my health, I rarely get to church, so I receive my spiritual food and companionship by way of the internet. Victoria Hernandez (from Columbia)

•It is so good to be able to count on you and have the opportunity to read your articles, which help us keep our convictions strong. I was surprised at the quick reply you gave me! I trust the Lord will continue blessing you, Basilio Amilcar Monzón Carreto

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – Ruth’s Dad is now in heaven. We are sad he is not with us, but in heaven he doesn’t have to suffer any more. The funeral was Monday, March 15 in McAllen, TX

** Praise the Lord with us! – The new version of ObreroFIel has now gone live and people are responding positively. The staff worked VERY hard to make this switch happen.

** Praise the Lord with us! – Josiah had a very good trip to Israel. God used the trip in many ways.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for March 2010

1. Pray for Beverly, Ruth’s mom, as she adjusts to life without her husband of almost 50 years. We will be with her in McAllen until the end of March to help with lots of details that need to be done for her.

2. Pray for Josiah as he makes decisions for his summer and college studies. He will graduate high school this spring. He is seeking the Lord’s will.

3. Pray for the ObreroFiel team as finish up details on the new version of the site. This month we are working hard to revamp the subscription services and to add our first online course (a follow up course for new believers) to the site.

4. Pray for wisdom for the leaders of the church we planted in San Juan. They are dealing with some very important issues that will affect the future of the church.

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – Josiah has made it safely to Israel and is one week into his 2.5 week visit there.

** Praise the Lord with us! – Scott’s ObreroFiel meetings in Dallas went very well. The team at our home offices in Dallas is really getting behind this ministry in new, significant ways.

** Praise the Lord with us! – God has faithfully provided for our support needs for 20 years that we have served with CAM.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for February 2010

1. Pray for Daniel Kendal (Ruth’s dad) who is in the hospital in McAllen, TX with 2 tumors that are blocking liver and pancreas functions. They appear to be inoperable. Pray for us as we are currently in Texas helping Ruth’s mom and visiting with Dan daily at the hospital.

2. Pray for Josiah as he takes a study trip to Israel. He returns to Mexico around Feb. 14th. (they are standby tickets) Continue to pray for safe travels and God’s leading as he considers his future.

3. Pray for the ObreroFiel team as we are in “crunch time” to finish changes to the new 3.0 version of the web site which will go live on March 1.

4. Pray for wisdom as Scott begins to write and develop online discipleship courses which we will offer to people asking for spiritual help online.

Scott & Ruth

Photo #1: Ruth’s entire extended family (parents, 2 sisters and their families) all work in Mexico as missionaries with different organizations in different cities. We all enjoyed our last time together (between Thanksgiving and Christmas). Ruth’s Dad (center of the sofa in the picture) is facing 2 inoperable tumors on the ducts between the liver, pancreas and small intestine. Each family is arranging schedules so that someone can be with Beverly to help visit and care for Dan. They have served as missionaries for 47 years in Guatemala, Mexico and in Hispanic USA.

Photo #2: ObreroFiel’s partnership with GMO is now formalized. GMO specializes in finding people on the internet that are searching for spiritual help, giving them a simple gospel presentation and encouraging a response. While they have sites in 14 different languages, their 4 Spanish sites have out-performed the other languages as far as percentage of response and numbers of contacts. Late last year they came to ObreroFiel for help. Our specialty is encouraging, educating and equipping Spanish-speaking believers through internet technologies. ObreroFiel will take the number at the bottom of the funnel (379,829) and help GMO make initial contact by email with each person that has asked for help. Scott is working hard to have a basic discipleship course ready to use with interested contacts by April 1. We hope to have a second discipleship course ready by June 1. In addition we are developing a database of local evangelical churches throughout Latin America so that we can lead our online contacts to good churches for fellowship and service.

Dear family, friends and partners,

** Praise the Lord with us! – God has provided funds and we have hired a full time computer specialist for ObreroFiel. We are also adding a part time person to help us get caught up with data entry work that is “piling up”.

** Praise the Lord with us! – The big Christmas concerts in Puebla we asked you to pray about last month went well.

** Praise the Lord with us! – we had a wonderful time together over the holidays as a family. This year we enjoyed time together as a family– something we value as our kids get older and get ready to “leave the nest”.

The Yinglings’ Top 4 Prayer Requests for January 2010:

1. Pray for our house church that God would give us wisdom as we minister to these families and young people.

2. Pray for ObreroFiel as we work to (1) convert the site to a blog format for easier use— set to go live March 1, (2) develop a formal online discipleship course which we hope to launch before June 1.

3. Pray for wisdom as we talk with a group of pastors from Fort Worth, TX about partnering with us in ministry here. They will be visiting with us here in San Juan from Jan. 18-20

4. Pray for Josiah as he takes a study trip to Israel. He leaves Mexico Jan. 27 and returns on Feb. 17th. Pray for safe travels and God’s leading as he considers his future.

May God bless each of you in this coming year,

Scott & Ruth

The clear gospel presentation was shared with thousands that attended the various concerts. We are amazed at the ability of our co-worker, Terry Vanderwerf, to pull these concerts together with such high quality music.
